Gang Starr boiled up the Jazz influence until there was just a raw essence, just enough not to detract from Guru who delivers his distinctive, hypnotic rhymes with confident ease. Gangstarr is one of the best things to ever hit rap. Their beats, rhymes, and message are on point. Gifted unlimited rhymes universal + Premier = Hot fire.

*Step In The Arena* definitely elevated GURU & Primo. _Check The Technique_ is one of my favorite Gangstarr tracks. I can't believe this album goes back to 1991. Wow.

Great song. I didn't get into Gang Starr although I liked the songs I heard. I really liked Guru's Jazzmatazz records though & have his Vol. 2.

That is a great album and the early 90's brought us some great Hip Hop including Gangstarr and Digital Underground. I am also a big fan of Guru's Jazzmatazz series.Thanks for reminding me of this great album.
