Power of Pop

Posted over 4 years ago

Iwfms's post entitled: Slow decline of the Whale reminded me of all the little songs that have gotten wedged into my subconscious over the years. Songs that normally would not appear on my radar, by groups that I usually would never deign to listen to, have somehow seeped into the folds of my gray-matter to become a major player in my internal soundtrack.

The first example that came to mind was Merril Bainbridge's Mouth, a super-sweet, poppy treat that makes me a bit giddy every time I hear it. I believe it was released during my sophomore year in college, yet more than a decade later and I'm still appreciative enough to mention it here. I think that is a pretty good testament of the strength of a catchy hook. To the power of pop.

  2. dermahrk says The above is a little ironic, considering your screen name, bro... :-) Yes, I liked it too. Pretty much any post including the word "pop" inspires clicking by moi.
