WHERE MUSIC LISTENS TO YOU

Oakley Hall

Posted over 3 years ago
Oakley Hall mix elements of Spacemen 3 (see “Confidence Man” on Gypsum Strings) with VU (same) and folk and roots elements, like the understated banjo on “Spanish Fandango” or harmony singing reminiscent of X’s country-esque turns. Contemporaries are My Morning Jacket, Will Oldham. Gypsum Strings just came out on Brah! Records. Dude in Oakley Hall used to be dude in Oneida.Listen to em here. I think these guys are great. Live show is killer too.

  2. Jackpine says They were here with the Constantines at DuNord a couple weeks ago. Don't see any SF dates in the near future, although they play in NY and Brooklyn all the time. I did a Studio C with them when they were here that will be live next wed.

  4. Jackpine says Studio C is properly called Music Sessions from Studio C, and is my weekly show on CNET (it's a podcast and/or a streaming show on CNET and Download.com). It's interviews with and performances by artists I really dig. Guests have included Robyn Hitchcock, John Doe, Lloyd Cole (will be up next week) and a lot more. I have links on my main Mog page. Check it here.
