WHERE MUSIC LISTENS TO YOU

No Led Zep, But How About A Yardbirds Reunion?

Posted about 1 year ago
So it's looking once again like no Zep tour. Pity. I saw them in 1977 at the LA Forum, and they were pretty darn great. But with Robert unavailable for a while, I would imagine Jimmy might have some extra time on his hands. So, how about somebody tries putting together a Yardbirds "reunion"/retrospective tour of sorts? Jimmy Page, Eric Clapton and Jeff Beck on the same stage together jamming with say just about any singer, (Keith Relf is of course unavailable), would in my books, to say the least, be worth seeing. Anyone else out there that would like to see that trio do a slash and burn version of Beck's Bolero? If you ask me, that alone would be worth the price of admission. Enough of waiting on Robert Plant's apparently massive ego. Guitar players rule.

  1. dermahrk says I would love to see it, and hell, let's throw in the bass player Paul Samwell-Smith (who I think is now a music executive) as well, as long as we're putting together a wish list. Chances it could happen? Slim to none.

  2. JackDelRey says Unfortunately, it probably isn't in the cards. All three are notoriously shall we say, for better or worse, "difficult" in one way or another. I just think it's a shame that Jimmy waits around for Robert to decide whether he wants to play in the sandbox again or not.
