Alice Cooper a go go

Yesterday I stood in a park and sweated my ass of with: families, Bikers, aging hippies, kids, and crusty punks that you could smell even over the odor of cooking spicy food and watched Alice Cooper play a free show. I haven't seen Alice before and it was a great show, just a hour and a half of his stuff from all era's. I got to cross another Horror Rocker off of my list of groups that I haven'...

Strangers on the Road Tonight

It's late, I can't sleep, too hot, I have to work in only a few hours, and this is what is running though my head..... I'm a stranger on this highway, I'm a Stranger on this road tonight..... It's little known track and I have 3 different bands playing it. Sure each of the bands feature Drummer Roy Stein who wrote the tune, and some versions are better than others, but still it's running throug...

June 2006 Stand out TracksEach month this year I have made mini play lists in my iTunes that includes the tracks that caught my ear that month, or that for some reason called out to be played again. Looking over these lists I see that some bands and artist carry over and some that appear only once. Maybe that’s the nature of pop music, some of it lasts for a time and some of it stays with you fo

Into the Forbidden Dimension

After having giving it a lot of thought I have to say that my favorite album of all time is the second one by the Horror/ Psychotronic Rock band The Forbidden Dimension. It's simply the most well rounded album that I can think of. Musically it runs the gambit of style, you have punk tunes, metal tunes, rockabilly tinged tunes, and intros songs. The record has a flow and drive that keeps it movi...

Record that changed my life

Simply. This is THEE best sampler of Horror Punk music ever. It's missing the Misfits, and it's got some of the non horror tracks by Jet Black Berries and The Tallboys (both of whom are well worth tracking down records by) and an entry by the non horror TSOL, but it's as close as any record to getting it all right. You have the Cramps, The Damned, 45 Grave, Roky Erickson and the Flesheaters all...

Shame on me.....

starting off, this song has that into, that twinkle of cymbal in the intro, and that slow start, just before the whole tune kicks into gear. It's about regret, and loss, and youth, and innocence. It's got that desperate fear of having past by THE ONE, it's got that 'I was young and stupid' justification rationalization of error.... I don't have that past, but i wish I did... what else can you w...

Sonic Reducer is not a Emo song

    Sonic Reducer

(Note: I wrote this several months ago and posted it on elsewhere on the net, but it's a music thought)So a couple of months back the soundtrack to Tony hawks American Wasteland came out featuring current 'punk' bands covering classic punk songs. I sampled the album on iTunes and with the exception of My Chemical Romance's take on Astrozombies and The Alkali Trio's cover of T.S.O.L.'s Wash Away...
