Tunes for June 2007
Each month I keep a play list on my iTunes of songs that catch my ear... I don't really have much to say about these tunes for the past month, but here they are...
Idaho by Jon Rauhouse I picked up the latest album by Rauhouse album based on the what I had heard from the album on the net. It's a great jazzy/ swing guitar based album with everything from the swing vocal tracks, to covers of old TV themes and a few standards. I just dig the bounce and fun of this tune. It also reminds me that it's been far too long since I was in the Pacific Northwest..
Make Me by The Jolenes Speaking of the Pacific Northwest The Jolenes are a cool collection of chicks who make poppy garage punk.... what' not to like?
Devo by The Groovie Ghoulies "Devo was Right, Devo Knew, all their crazy prophises came true"... is there anything else to say ?
Death Cab for Cutie by The Bonzo Dog Band A great Elvisesque take on the whole teen/car accident/ death trend of the early '60 (last kiss, endless sleep..)
Battery Operated by Sgt. Major More cool power pop from the Pacific Northwest...
The Silencers by Vikki Carr This is right in there with the secret agent craze of the 1960's tunes. I'm talking Godfinger, You Only Live Twice, Last of the Secret Agents and all the rest..

My Trusted MOGs
I've got Death Cab for Cutie, courtesy of fairportfan. I only listened to it once though so I didn't really catch what it was about. I should go back and listen to that again.
