I am closing in on 12 months of doing this…. But here is my tunes of note for May 2007. I know that there are a lot of newbies out there, so here is the quick and dirty version, each month I make a play list just for that month in my iTunes and drop in what ever catches my ear , I should also say that a lot of this stuff I did write about in this past month.……
Left of the Dial by The Replacements What is there to say other than these guys are classic and I for one a sad that I knew about them for more than a decade before I really got the urge to check them out. This one just has a damaged wistful feel that works for me…
Hanging On by The Tip Toppers I am sure I wrote about this tune a during this past month, as it is included on the Flattery Vol 3 from the Radio Birdman tribute series… a great chanted take on one of my fave Birdman tunes….
Love Smiles by The Billy Nayer Show This past month I did re-rent The American Astronaut, a film made by this band, it’s a weird space western that I really really like… anyway this song is from the film and it’s got an amazing in your face raw feel while talking about love and flowers and all that groovie stuff..
Atomic Cocktail by The Mortals… I don’t have much to say about this song other than it rock, it’s got a bit of grit and fury…
Leningrad by The Leningrad Cowboys I think I wrote everything that I needed to in this link…. So check it out.. btw, the rest of the album that this track came from is hit and miss, there is some good stuff and some dreck…
Obi Damned Kenobi By Gluecifer the late lamented Kings of Rock from Oslo… I have to say that there is so much that I have started to hear in this song. The opening is like Love Song by The Damned, and then it gets sluggy and stoner rock and the vox make me think of The Obsessed and that melodic vocal hook is right out of The Soundtrack of Our Lives it’s just got that right mix of everything that there is to love about High Energy Rock and Roll.
So there it is another month down… and a new one on the way…
