MUSIC SIGNPOSTS ON THE WEB'S LONELY ROAD

Artist: Die Cruisin
Album: Hit Parade from Hell
Track: Horror High

It was an simple 2 line add in MRR back in the mid 90’s: $2 for a cassette tape, Misfits meets the Ramones. I dropped a couple of well hidden dollars in a envelop and sent it off. A few weeks later I got a tape in the mail, and as I headed off to (GEEK ALERT) the Motor City Comic Con with the member of the band Mazinga we gave the tape a listen. It was low Fi, it was noisy, and it was catchy. Some of the guys in the car didn’t care for it, but I gave it a couple of more spins and there was something there. A few letters later I had another tape of music, this time it was their Hit Parade from Hell tape, and I was hooked.

Die Cruisin’ is/was a group from St. Louis who play straight ahead energy filled horror punk copping riffs liberally from the Misfits and the Ramones as advertised. What makes them worth hearing is that they add something of their own to that mix that is enjoyable. What I love about their stuff is that it’s raw but still accessible, and because the songs are just so fast they never wear out their welcome. Aside from the tapes that they have recorded (A few of which have made it to CDR), the only ‘real’ release the band has had was the Night of Mystery 7” that Reanimator Records (my old label) released. If anyone is interested in hear Die Cruisin’ drop me an e-mail.
