In another life I was a failed music label honcho. It was the late 1990’s any my brother and I had a little bit of money and a small dream, to launch the worlds first Horror Punk Record Label. We made a go of it, 5 years and a lot of money later we shut the whole thing down. There were a lot of reasons, mostly it was just time to move on and Reanimator didn’t seem to have a place in the world anyway. In that time we released almost 20 records and got to work on some dream projects.
One of the projects that we had thought about that never went anyway was releasing a CD by the Canadian band Razoreater. Of all the groups that we had contact with they were the most promising. The got it, mixing your basic loud fast punk with a hint of Goth, and a dash of horror and the right… vibe. There was a bit of Misfits in their sound, but not too much and when listening to them I never thought ‘Ok there is the Misfits right there,” They released a 7” and a cassette of originals, with a ska cover of the Monster Mash tacked onto the end of the tape. I don’t know what happened to them, they just seemed to vanish. They did make an appearance on the Tombstone Park comp CD Reanimator released and stood apart and above many of the other tracks on the comp. Recently they have popped up again on myspace, posting a few of the old tracks. http://www.myspace.com/razoreater13
