WHERE THE HOKEY POKEY "IS" WHAT IT'S ALL ABOUT

Artist:
Track:

The Voladoras are four women based in Stockholm, who play haunting Garage rock with nods to The Cramps and The Gun Club in their sound. It's not so much that they are a Horror band, as that as their leader Ima Wino told me when I asked her why she thought that there were so many new Horror Theme Girl Groups in Finland (there are a couple btw The Patsy Walkers & The Miss Monster Club "Men are monsters and we have to deal with them...".

I don't really have a lot to say about the history of the band as most of what I know was half heard while chatting at 3 AM, while drinking, mostly on the part of the band members. I also don't have a good read on what they have released as far as recordings go, most of what has been issued is out if print, but there are a pair of songs you can download on their myspace page (linked above). I also haven't seen them live... yet.. but have it on good authority that they rock....

I wish I had more info to share... however I think their music says it all, wild mysterious women who rock ... but then again isn't that redundant?

Tomorrow: for the 13th of Oct a Horror punk/metal Sex Sex Sex (which is Swedish for 666)

Eric, I really like what I'm hearing at myspace. You Suck is the only song that didn't fly well with me, but the others are delicious. Hey, women can be monsters, too. Just prettier ones :)

Anna, Thanks for checking the band out.. who knows it's almost more likely that they will play live in your part of the world than in mine...

Really? Why's that?

They are based out of Sweden, and there is more of a chance that they would tour in southern Europe than in The USA.... Not saying that they will, just saying I think it's more likely...

Tiki Twist diffinately does it for me, seductive and love the way the vocals seem like they should have some sugary slick pop behind them but instead match with the absolutely raging punk guitar sound

Yeah, I gotta say that Tiki Twist is one of my fave tunes of theirs...
