WHERE MUSIC LISTENS TO YOU

Cover Me...

Posted over 2 years ago
A few years back I was talking to Kepi, lead singer of the Groovie Ghoulies, and asked him about cover songs. One of the things that he mentioned was that he would like to cover The Natives are Restless by The Cramps, only that The Cramps were still very much alive and kicking as a band, and that he didn't feel like it was his place to play their songs at this time.... that's had me thinking for some time, and I understand where he is coming from, so the question I have for all of you is simply this... what band, that is no longer around, is ripe for the covering?I think that it's about time that someone started to cover The Screaming Trees... Their albums are filled with great songs, many of which I would love to hear transformed to another genre.... can't you just hear an Alt Country version of any of the tunes on Dust??thoughts, comments, spare cough syrup....

  1. chucky says I am a complete sucker for covers in general. For this, I'll go with Patsy Cline. She made some kick ass music, I'd like to see it get redone with a little more spunk. Maybe rockabilly style, but also I could completely hear some current diva covering her.

  2. lemontwist says It'd be interesting to hear covers of Soul Coughing. Just because the songs are so unique, I think it'd be a big challenge to cover them effectively. It'd be cool to hear more Mother Love Bone covers (only heard that one Pearl Jam did) just to revive their music. They stay too far under the radar. And, of course, I totally agree about Screaming Trees covers. That'd be rad.
