MOG MOG

WHERE THE HOKEY POKEY "IS" WHAT IT'S ALL ABOUT

"It's too damn late.... I known your name" howled over the raunchy strut of a guitar riff and you know it can only be The Forbidden Dimension . It's been 10 years since their last full length release, 1997's Widow's Walk after which the then current line up had called it quits.

Anyone that has been following my Mog should know by now that I love this band, and that I have been on the edge of my seat waiting for this record. I have written about the FD on mog more than a few times and you can read some of those post by making with the clicky here

I was going to do a track by track review of this record, but as with all of their stuff, it takes a while for it all to sink in, for all the lyrical tricks to bubble to the surface, and for the double meanings to become clear. Sonically the record is more mellow, there are still the fuzzed out breakneck punker's here, but there is also breathing room in the songs, and the use of what sounds to be a sitar on several tracks. Over all it's got a real garage pop rock feel, with more organ and more jangle and clean sounds thrumming though out.

This record is a worthy addition to the FD cannon, and I for one look forward to exploring it's shadows and lost corners. The bottom line is this is a record that I am gonna be playing for a long time to come, and that if people want something new to add to their horror punk/ psychotronic collection or just something new for this Halloween, I would highly recommend. Aside from the FD collection that was released on my old label Reanimator Records (we still have copies for sale) I think this is the only of their records in print, and I know it's the only one that you can buy as a download....
