I was down at the famous Portland Saturday's Market on a beautiful fall day and found this artist selling some great psychedlic paintings of musicians, mostly big iconic ones like John Lennon, Ray Charles, etc. I liked the one of Johnny Cash here the best. I asked him if he was open to doing an painting of an artist of choice for a customer but he was a bit reluctant stating he was swamped with work but if I brought down a picture of the artist I wanted he might consider it. Didn't sound like he was current on his music so I told him I might be able to help him out a bit in that department.. as it would only help him to incease sales if he was so inclined... as I couldn't see anyone not wanting thier favorite artist done with his art.
So, I got to thinking about Johnny and this video/song which I loved when I first saw it because it really shows, with 36 stars packed into this short video, how much everyone loved Johnny and what he did for country rock sound and the music industry. His voice comes through as big as life as Rick Rubin reincarnated his music through a series of "American Recordings" In WIKI:
Under Rubin's supervision, he recorded the album American Recordings (1994) in his living room, accompanied only by his guitar. That guitar was a Martin dreadnought guitar - one of many Cash played throughout his career.[10] The album featured several covers of contemporary artists selected by Rubin and had much critical and commercial success, winning a Grammy for Best Contemporary Folk Album. Cash wrote that his reception at the 1994 Glastonbury Festival was one of the highlights of his career. This was the beginning of a decade of music industry accolades and surprising commercial success.
See if you can name all the stars in this video? No cheating now!

I can only name 15, recognised 4 more but can't remember names, so the rest I must have missed as I was writing down the names- YES I actually got a pen and paper to test myself
I am sure there are plenty more out there.
I love Johnny, he has the same birthday as me so I feel me and him have a connection...slight, I know but it did get me listening to his music when I was about 15.

Good job, actually that was one more than I could my first time. I will post the list later today and then after glancing at the list, you will find more.. they flash pretty fast.. almost like subliminally! That's cool that you developed that connection early on in life, was there other artists at that time in your life that stand out now? I think at that age I was listening to some Simon and Garfunkle!
My Trusted MOGs
Not many that I would like to admit, .....David Bowie, Lou Reed - those 2 because my bro was a fan, Jim Reeves ( because my sister really loved him- I thought he had a great voice but I kept it quiet.)
