John Doe and The Sadies - Ottawa, ON - May 4, 2009

My friend and I went to see John Doe with the Sadies last night in Ottawa. The Sadies started off the set, and played for a rocking 30 minutes. They're just the funnest band to see live, I recommend them to anyone. John Doe then came out and they proceeded to do almost all of the songs off their new record, Country Club which is basically them covering a bunch of real country songs. The album has really grown on me, and they sounded great live. They also did some Sadies songs together, and we were treated to a few X songs which was awesome. I managed to record most of the show, and after the show John was walking around the bar mingling. My friend convinced me to go up to get the lmtd. edition poster I bought signed, which I did, then we each got a pic taken with him. I look sooo stoned in my pic even though I wasn't really...um, by that point, but I just won't post it lol. John yapped with us for about 10 minutes, and he was very cool to us. He told me he saw me rocking out and having a good time, and thanked me, then we joked sarcastically about this and that. Not a bad way to spend a Sunday night.
