Yeah, I looked away for a minute and the electoral count went from 203 to 300+!
Congratulations my friend.
I don't envy your new job.
The hard work has just begun. Well, on Jan. 21 2009.
I was making a grilled cheese sandwich when it happened....
I'm not going to say I'm happy, but I am happy it's over. What I refuse to do now is play the sour grapes "don't blame me, I voted for someone else" card. Happens every time and it just serves to divide us more. Congrats to him, now let's all work together.
I thought McCain's concession speech was lovely. I wish he'd spoken from the heart like that more often....
I agree, Ivy. It made him seem more like the man he was 8 years ago.
What's the tune at his acceptance speech?
Groon: I think it was this one:
Sorry that would be lockridge, not Groon.
That acceptance speech was incredible. I think. I really want nothing more than for him to deliver.
PEACE.
Amen to that, lockridge.....
I'm happy openly!
I stayed up till 4 UK time, went to bed with good projections, and woke up with fantastic results....
May he have the courage and patience to clean up the mess!
McCain is really showing his true worth with his graciousness. Maybe all this neocon bullshit can finally be swept into the garbage can where it belongs. Government and governing is an inclusive business.
McCain's speech was elloquent. Too bad that guy didn't run for Pres! That was the McCain I admired back around 2000, before he rolled over for the GOP.
I'm estatic about Obama's win, but realistic that he has a tough job. I really feel he's the right man for it. I'm so glad he talked about public service, and people rolling up their sleeves and helping out, because it's what were gonna have to do to get through these times. Every one grab a bucket and start bailing.
Let's end the war, focus on our infrastructure, education, and econmomy. These jobs aren't profitable, but their necessary, and hey - their jobs!
I realised last night how much resentment, apathy and disgust had built up in me over 8 years. And just how hard it is to let go of that. I felt like nothing was possible when fear and ignorance was leading us. Now possability is possible, and hope is a fuel for the soul. Now it's time for me to even, at the very least try to be a little less cynical, and see what we can accomplish. I'm not saying be niave - let's be realistic. I believe no one is ammune to rationality or reason, so let's choose reason over irrationality.

Let's see who he surrounds himself with.
The fact remains ... he raised more money from small doners than anyone else in history .... AND corporate doners. Who will have access?
But .... I do feel that positivity ... I will actually look forward to hearing what the president has to say now.
I'm pretty happy with the result of your elections. Hopefully he won't be corrupted by lobbyists and companies who earn through warfare like Haliburton & Co.
But as this was a quite historical election and he was a kind of underdog until few years ago, I also hope he's a bit more independent and sweep out the whole sleaze that creeps around the White House. As he is the president of the people and less of some powerful companies - at least that was my maybe biased perception - unlike litte George I hope this will help him to behave with integrity.
I'm really looking forward now to the politics of the new United States.
