Track:William, It Was Really Nothing, How Soon Is Now?, Please Please Let Me Get What I Want
I have been steadily digitizing my albums. Tonight this one was on deck.
This is a vinyl rip from a record that has been played more times than I can remember.
The single I hope you are listening to now came out in 1984, August to be exact.
These songs didn't make it to their self titled studio debut. Why, I don't know. But they were nice enough to add the songs on the second album 'Hatful of Hollow'.
The tracks that are on this single will stand the test of time.
Enjoy 'William'. Perhaps for the first time all over again.

Have to say I have given the smiths a good 20 years of my time. They never grow old with me
So 11 minutes is like peanuts to you.
Coop I am in the same boat. Hot damn if they aren't always fresh.
uncanny ripping. the songs actually sound a whole other different.
you nailed it - like listening for the first time.
Blame it on the single. Side A 'William' and Side B 'How Soon, Please'.
God bless the 12 inch single I say.
Smiths --> 11 minutes & 10 years
Chris --> over a year
You can't say I'm not generous with my time...
More than genorous Anna.
Where I say "thank you".
The Smiths say "eh, whatever".
Ah yes, the classics never get old. Glad to give another 11 minutes to Morrissey and co.
I think we should start seeing other people...
I think we should start listening to other bands...
{nawww!}
"And if you have [11 minutes] to spare, then let me tell the story of my life." Heh.
Fresh as ever.
Thank you. Haven't heard this sequence in some time!
It's my pleasure guys.
I got a few singles to rip and I am really digging the 10-11 minute song nosh.
Interesting. I had heard the second song before. Never been a fan of The Smiths, by this time in my life (84), I was full on into metal by then, so this stuff never crossed my palette. However, in my latter years, a christian band came along called Mad At The World, and their first two releases, sounded like a cheesy keyboardy version of the first song on here. There were slight differences, but they used a fake british accent and everything. After the first couple of releases by MATW, they had moved onto "copying" the vibe of different artists via The Cult and Danzig for a few albums and the last one they released sounded like Jellyfish and then they died. I knew that when they started (in 87 I believe) that they were copying the sounds of a mid 80's brit pop band, but I didn't know who. And the last song sounds exactly like something off their second release, "Flowers In The Rain".
Yeah, last time I checked, I've given the smith's a lot more than 11 minutes of my time...a few years rather
my goodness Chris - I've given the lads a good 20 years or so... think that's a good start ?!? 11 minutes - you silly man ;)
