This Is Where I End, This Is Where I Begin .......

Posted over 2 years ago

As things go you will not be the same person tomorrow as you are today. In some small way you will change. Be it for the better or worst the change is guided by circumstance, situation and a myriad of small influences.

Both of these tunes are 'End Themes'. Take your pick, go softly on a glide or loud and proud, then read on.

Isaac Hayes - End Theme

Morcheeba - End Theme

2009 was a bitter pill for me. If your coming to my page for the first time you can pick through my older posts to find out why. I won't give power to the dragons I have tried to slay over the course of the past year. While not fully upright and in Bristol fashion, I find no list in my walk, I exit 09 with air in my lungs and a still beating heart.

Plans? Hell, I don't have many. Grow old, seek bliss, retire on a sailboat, and take care of the ones I love. That is pretty much it.
In a more immediate sense, I think the plan is to get through the moment and take everything in stride. I'm going to take the lessons learned, find my balance, acknowledge and move on. Once again that is pretty much it.

My New Years wish for you is that I hope you never have a year like my last one. If you do, hopefully you'll come out of it with the ability to take one or two on the jaw and not fall down. Me? I'm going to enter 2010 with my eyes wide open. I'm not going to forget 2009, I just don't want to miss a blessed thing as I move forward into the next year.

Here's to you and the bounty that you've brought to my table. For that I am grateful.

Happy New Year Citizens!

With all of life on verge of the renewal of a new year, let us all take comfort in the fact that we all may find peace and comfort in our souls in the year to come and not forget what has happened in our past year for it is the knowledge one needs to learn and grow. Happy new year you big animal you.

Thanks, pal. The snake may swallow its own tail, but I like to think that it can then roll forward like a wheel. I'm gonna take a cue, and keep rolling forward myself!

Keep with the "simple" plan, Chris. The value of finding one's balance can not be overemphasized, whether it's for standing one's ground or picking up the pieces. Happy 2010. (:

Here's to 2010!  May it treat you right, Chris.

If you haven't heard the King Crimson song "Eyes Wide Open" yet, check this out.  I think you'll like it.

This is the version from the "Happy With What you Have to be Happy with" EP, which I think is inferior to the later version that ended up on the "The Power to Believe" album, but it's still good.

    There's always a song, there's always a story.

    From Pink Floyd's Childhood's End:

    You shout in your sleep.
Perhaps the price is just too steep.
Is your conscience at rest if once put to the test?
You awake with a start to just the beating of your heart.
Just one man beneath the sky,
Just two ears, just two eyes.
You set sail across the sea of longpast thoughts and memories.
    Childhood's end,
Your fantasies merge with harsh realities.
And then as the sail is hoist,
You find your eyes are growing moist.
All the fears never voiced say you have to make your final choice.
Who are you and who am I to say we know the reason why?
    Some are born;
Some men die beneath one infinite sky.
There'll be war, there'll be peace.
But everything one day will cease.
    All the iron turned to rust;
All the proud men turned to dust.
And so all things, time will mend.
    So this song will end.

Yeah there are beginnings and endings. Like you I try to focus on the beginnings.
