Beirut, just a kid from New Mexico

Posted about 5 years ago
As seen on all those music blogs like "Said The Gramophone":http://www.saidthegramophone.com/archives/take_the_big_gun_dow.php, "i guess i'm floating":http://iguessimfloating.blogspot.com/2006/10/new-song-from-beirut-elephant-gun.html, "gorilla vs. bear":http://gorillavsbear.blogspot.com/2006/12/lon-gisland.html and the loved/hated "Pitchfork Media":http://webapp.pitchforkmedia.com:9005/article/news/40348 people. Get it here for yourself. If you aren't familiar yet, Beirut is this snot nosed kid from the U.S. southwest who is full of talent. It's Gypsy music. Haunting, beautiful. Sweet and melancholy. I can't wait to see what this guy is up to in twenty years. No boring indie rock here! Zach Condon has a voice well beyond his years. Lon Gisland EP

  3. cherbonsy says Good god, Zach's music is incredible. It's like Sigur Ros got knocked up by Arcade Fire, and, embarrassed by it all, had the child raised by Yann Tiersen among a band of Romanian gypsies. A few live shows are available for free on archive.org: - October 20, 2006: Great American Music Hall - San Francisco, CA - August 13, 2006 - McCarren Park Pool - Brooklyn, NY I'd recomment the prior of the two.
