what: Folk-rock duo Tegan and Sara first burst onto the Canadian music scene in 1998,
when they earned the highest score in history at Calgary’s Garage Warz competition. Their quick rise didn’t stop, for their melodic acoustics and charming stage personas led to a slew of dates with Sarah McLachlan’s Lilith Fair that same year and a record deal with Neil Young’s Vapor Records.
In 2007, Tegan sang backup on a song on new Sire labelmate Against Me!’s album New Wave, and the twins, who had by now moved far from the singer/songwriter mold and were more interested in exploring pop, punk, and indie rock, came out with Christopher Walla (of Death Cab for Cutie) who produced The Con.

Death Cab for Cutie is heralding the May 13 release of its new album, Narrow Stairs, with its first live shows in more than 18 months. The tour kicks off April 18 in their home state of Washington at the Admiral Theatre in Bremerton, followed by a series of festival appearances, including Coachella 2008 in Indio, CA on April 26 and the Bonnaroo Music & Arts Festival on June 15 in Manchester, TN.
Narrow Stairs is the follow up to the band’s 2005 Grammy Award-nominated major label debut, Plans. Produced by the band's own Chris Walla, the new album will be preceded by the single, I Will Possess Your Heart. (ticketnews.com)
