I don't know what everyone thinks about my new avatar compared to the last one but I'm way into Iron Fist these days so I decided to get a new face and show some love for one of the best comic book character published by Marvel right now. Written by Matt Fraction (Casanova, Punisher War Journal) and Ed Brubaker (Daredevil, Sleeper) and drawn by David Aja, this comic is an homage to old action movies but, at least, with good "actors" and a plot that actually means something instead of just throwing the hero against an army of ninja without any explanation. Well, there are ninjas. Don't get me wrong. Put on some ninja or some nazi in a comic book or in a movie and you're sure to get people's attention. That's why the TMNT were such a big hit, and still are. But in Iron Fist, you don't get some mutants reptiles eating pizzas or a bunch of dudes who are trying to look tough in some home made black ninja outfit, but a charismatic hero fighting with his fist again and feets an army of warriors, a giant robot, and whose history of full of magic and tragedy. To make things short, you get in every issue what you would get in a hollywood blockbuster, but with better writing and cooler scenes. This is not what comic book can only do today. Writers like Alan Moore or Will Eisner opened the door to much more expansive and experimental books. But Iron Fist is a nice dose of fun and fighting every month and this also what american comic books are all about. Super heroes are a big part of comic book's identity and it would be dumb to deny it. Damn ... I swear to God, this was supposed to be only about my change of avatar !
