Khanate is one, and maybe the most, frightenning band I've ever heard. I know there are music as powerfull, and maybe more, than this, but to my ears, there isn't anything that can come close to the near religious experience that is a Khanate record. I usually don't listen to them very often, but maybe due to Last fm and the numbers of track I can see growing on my page, I've listenned to them more often recently and finally discovered some beauty in their songs. And yes, I think they really play songs. If you think this band is only about random noise, you are not paying attention. This is painfully crafted music where every beat counts as much as a seismic explosion on the surface of the earth. Khanate's music is about raw emotion and is very much animalistic in the way they are portrayed. the Lyrics and the screams are not filtered through the other instruments but are above everything else while the movement of the bass or the beats draw a background to fit the mood of the lyrics. But make no mistake, Khanate is not, to me at least, a band that's solely about the screamer. the Music behind the voice is as important. But when I listen to a song like Capture, all I can hear in my head, is this voice that make me sit down and listen. I can't move as quickly as I do usually. I can't do anything else. I just don't want to disrupt the stream of emotion that comes through my speakers.
