A Life Once Lost - Riffs and spliffs

Posted over 2 years ago
Have you checked out the latest song from A Life Once Lost ? If you haven't, you definitly should. After being tagged as a metalcore band because of their debut, Open your mouth for the speechless, a competent but kind of bland take on metalcore, they evolved on each album. Becoming more and more metal but also evolving into a new beast, way more interesting than most trendy metal bandn which isn't a feat in itself, but still getting more and more popular. Good for them, I don't freaking care if one my favourite band is listenned to by more and more people. The more, the better, as long as the musicianship and the composition don't suffer from it. And they don't. Thankfully they just fucking don't ! While listenning to this new track I was thinking of buying another shirt from them (the third) and then I realised who I was listenning to. Damn ... this WAS A Life Once Lost ! The voice was different, more consistent maybe, and also more personal than the voice their singer used on Hunter which was very influenced by Lamb of God's Randy Blithe. The Meshuggah influence in their sound (that was incorporated on A great artist) isn't as obvious now. In fact, they seem to have found their feet in a mix between a modern metal sound mixed with some classic rock sounding riff. And no, I don't mean that goddam southern influence that everyone seems to latch into. I mean something way more interesting than the first song they put. Something more personal. In fact, something that made me enthousiast to hear the record and give the older ones a go, back to back. And that doesn't happen often, believe me. So give it a go and tell me what you think. http://www.myspace.com/alifeoncelost
