New Golden Ball Video

Oh Yes!!! Here it is, the new video for Signature Abstract from the upcoming album The Antique Barking Swirls of Dawn. We had such a grand ole time filming this with director, and fellow mogger Magdalenus and our dapper guide, Lord Whimsy. Whimsy, seen below flying a flag of his own creation for The United Shires of America, took us on a rich tour of the Pine Barrens of New Jersey complete with visits to cranberry bogs, enchanted woods, and the occasional U.S. Army firing range. Enjoy, enjoy.

    Spencer Owen says Question: Are Golden Ball named after the Stereolab song, or are you guys both referencing the same thing? Or did you both just come up with it separately? 'Cause if you did, y'all are crazy.

    HoneymoonMusic says Yes, we get that question fairly often. The band was named after the the Grimm brothers' tale titled "The Frog King" about a princess and her golden ball. For anyone who isn't familiar with the tale, a princess drops her golden ball (representing her innocence) into a river. The ball is retrieved by a frog who wished to be turned back into the prince that he once was, and so on, and so on. That's the gist of the story. It's a good one, like most Grimm tales. Not sure is David (of Golden Ball) came up with the name before of after the Stereolab song. He's been using it for quite a few years before there was a fully formed band. No doubt that we also love Stereolab!!!
