Jazz Liberatorz: Where Jazz meets Golden Era HipHop
-
Artist:
I don't know much about the French Jazz Liberatorz and I don't have the time to investigate thoroughly. Nontheless I'd like to recommend you this album strongly if you like so called Golden Era HipHop and/or Jazz.
I found them on a music blog and damn, this is a rare find. At times they remind me a bit of 4hero but also of Arrested Development or A Tribe Called Quest. Most of the following info stems from another blog, so don't sue me if there is something wrong with it.

The Jazz Liberatorz are DJ Dusty, DJ Damage and Madhi and 'Clin d'oeil' is their debut album. Evidently they have released singles and remixes before. So the instrumentals are French, but the rappers are American of which I haven't heart before. Buckshot (Black Moon), Sadat-X (Bran Nubian), Tre-Hardson (ex-Pharcyde), Stacy Epps, T-Coil, Tableek (Maspyke), Fat Lip (ex-Pharcyde), J-Sands, Lizz Fields, Raashan Ahmad (Crown City Rockers), Apani B Fly, J-Sands (Lone Catalysts), and J-Live. Apart from that the instrumentals stem from French Jazz musicians.
You will find a (to me) unique mixture of Jazz and HipHop, whereby the raps remind of the Golden Era texts. That is: no gangstas here but much talk about music and life.
I've listened intensively to this album for quite some time now and trust me, it doesn't get boring. I know my posts got rare in the last months but I hope to make up for that with this album a bit ;). So enjoy HipHop Thursday with these fabulous tunes from France.
P.S.: I discovered the album on a blog, but I discovered the featured track on a radio show of one or our radio moderators on MOG. But I forgot who it was. Anyway, huge props to you. So you see, check out from time to time their radio shows, it's worth it.

brittany: I feel honored to have delivered the 'find of the day' :). But as I sad, I also got the crucial tip fom a fellow moggers radio show. I don't find albums of this quality every day. Glad you dig it.
Rawk, you're completely right. I'd also love to have this cover as poster.
changling: always glad to meet your taste. There's another album, that's in the posting cue, which isn't that jazz heavy. Have to write about that soon.
