Hip Hop a lo cubano

Posted about 1 year ago
MOG is having a taggin problem here. The album presented is "A lo cubano" , but MOG replaced the correct tag here.

There's hardly latin HipHop, that is not up my alley. No idea why that is that way, maybe because it serves my yearning for Latinamerica and reminds me of my great time, that I spent in Mexico. Until recently I only knew Mexican HipHopers like Molotov, Control Machete or Boca Floja, which have all their own styles.
Here's my first album of Cuban HipHop. I still didn't have time to investigate much on them, but I'll do that later for sure. So another Orishas post is to come in future with more background information.
I enjoy this album a lot. Orisha stays quite true to the heritage of their motherland in using Son and Rumba as basis for their tracks.

  4. Hermes says Glad you like it. They have other albums out and they seem to be known also outside of Cuba, as I realized on a chilean web-blog. I think they are exil Cubans. If you should have problems, finding out more about them, wait a bit. I'm going to investigate on them. Maybe I'll have to read some Spanish websites for that.

  7. Hermes says glammer, I think I replied you in the wrong post to your question ;). Well, but they are sure Cubans, at least, that what they say. changling: De rien. I think, the "background music" in this track - it's really bad to denominate it here in that way, but I don't know a better word - in this case stems directly from the Buena Vista Social Club, if I'm not completely wrong. But it has been a long time since I have listened to them.
