Finally alive again

Posted almost 5 years ago
Dear Moggers, finally the time of hardcore nerdiness is over. I handed in my master thesis today, and it was "quite a ride" to put it that way - kind of mental ride, if one can say this in English. I mentioned Wax Tailor in my acknowledgement. I have no idea, if it is adequate to do that within a thesis, but I give a fuck.It really helped me a lot.I listened to a lot of music, but these two were somehow really special to me.And as it's HipHop thursday now since three hours, a least in my timezone, it also fits quite well in the MOG calendar.Enjoy, I did a lot and still do.

  2. mktackabery says Welcome back Frank! Glad to hear you survived the thesis, I hope I can do the same next spring! Hope you had a nice evening of kicking back and listening to music after it was all over. Here's an ice-cold vodka tonic from me. Congratulations. Love these tracks, I know nothing about this artist but I definitely LIKE.

  3. Hermes says Hi Michelle, thanks for the welcome. I can say without any doubt, that I never worked so much in my life as in the last few weeks. 80 hours + per week, that means, only work, sleep and a few little pauses, that are necessary to maintain the capacity of ones brain ;). Somehow, I had the impression, that many of you also seized to MOG or at least decreased the frequency of your posts. But others mogged. 600+ MOG posts in my mailbox, Jesus Christ. I severly doubt, that I'll ever be able to read all those posts. Anyway, I have to say, that this intense working phase wasn't only hard but also caused me some perverted kind of fun. My carer/tutor first thought, I would screw up, 'cause I started so late with writing. After one and a half week, I gave him my first 30 pages and he was quite impressed. That was a very good feeling. Thanks god I don't know such a thing like a writer's block. Else I really would have screwed up. The most important hint, that I can give you for your thesis: start writing so early as possible. I you have to throw away a part of that aferwards, because you want to restructure the text or because of other reason, it's not so important. They also said that to me, but I didn't follow the hint, because I thought, that I never had problems with writing, and so it was. But the guys, who gave me that hint, didn't mention the most important argument: You don't really understand, the things you read, before you wrote them down in your own words. And even more important: it give's you links in other directions. That's something really odd, because I would have thought before, that one has to have the knowledge BEFORE he starts to write. But in my case, the knowledge really was built up while I was writing about those things. So I had much better ideas, after having written the theoretical part, but I couldn'd convert them into practice because the lack of time. So, in retrospective, it would have been better, if I would have immediately started do write about the things I read and to build up a structure of the thesis text - not to use it exactely that way afterwards, but because it would have caused, that I would have had the good ideas much earlier, still having time to convert them into software. Well, I guess that in your area of knowledge, there is no practical part after the theoretical one, so you won't have that problem. But in my case, that was the biggest mistake I made. Anyway, I guess, it's still a quite good thesis, though the results are negative. But it's not a doctoral thesis, so the results don't have to be positive and it's not important for the grade. Was Tailor is a french producer of abstract HipHop, who invites a lot of rappers, as it seems. I don't know much about him, but the two albums and one single I have now, are extraordinary, if one likes sampled music. I just got his albums maybe three weeks ago - I only had the single before. And both albums are fantastic. He's in my ranking now on the same level as The Herbaliser, and that means something. GooGoomuc posted another of hims gems from the new album: "A Fantastic Mind":http://mog.com/GooGoomuc/blog_post/57667 - these here are tracks from the "old" one.
