Here's a little tune given to my by my lovely friend and co-worker, Casey. I am lucky enough to have a job where I work with some of the best people in the world. I work at a theatre. A live play theatre, not a movie theater. I am not an actress, nor do I work in the creative side of the theatre. As I like to say, "I do the boring paperwork that makes the magic possible." But I still get to have lots of fun and the did I mention the people I work with are the greatest? My fellow Box Office workers, or "The Babes," love each other fiercely and will take on any rude customer who threatens one of our own. But even better, the Babes have great taste in music and we share our treasures. When one of us discovers a new band, we ALL discover a new band. Plus, while we all have similar taste, we are diverse enough in our own ways so we all end up listening to things we might not have otherwise. For example, Leeland. Now I have nothing against Christian rock. Hello please, I spent 10 years in my church choir when I was younger. I can make a joyful noise to the Lord with the best of them. I've just never found a specifically Christian band I've liked. I've got the odd song (like this) but too many times I've been listening to a Christian band and on comes a song that makes me feel like I should have a Bible in one hand and be waving the other hand in the air. That's just not me. (I'm Episcopalian. I need some Christian Lite.)But Casey was right. I like this song and I love the adorable notes she writes on the CDs she burns for me:"Leeland - Sounds like: Keane, Coldplay & they love Jesus!"How much more of an endorsement do you need?
