A Song A Day....

...will be fun, right? Maybe? We'll give it a shot. My hometown of Memphis is all about music, especially in May when we have the Beale Street Music Festival at the beginning of the month and the Sunset Symphony at the end, both down on the river. So what better time to post a song a day and a little about how I came to own each song? The big question will be if I remember how I came to acquire some of the songs in my collection. My trusty iPod, George, will be selecting songs using his brilliant shuffing skillz.George's first selection:I discovered Snow Patrol back in 2004 while surfing the interweb for info on Franz Ferdinand. I ended up at the NME website which listed other Scottish bands I might be interested in, Snow Patrol being one of them. I watched the video for "Chocolate" and was pretty much in love. Then came the clincher: A review of this very album which called it "fan-fucking-tastic". As this is one of my favorite phrases, I now felt it was a moral imperative to purchase some Snow Patrol. I quite like this song as I feel you can hear the Nirvana influence. Plus, while I realize they are getting older now and more polished, I enjoy hearing them a bit rough around the edges. They do a kick ass version of this song on their Live at Sommerset House DVD.
