Being the near-middle-aged, rockist white guy that I am, I feel I should be giving Top Props to the Arcade Fire and/or The Shins...certainly both of those new albums do the job splendidly (especially
Neon Bible and the magnificent "Intervention"). And that new Amy Winehouse joint ain't bad neither. But damn if Lily Allen's debut isn't just so much FUN to listen to, so bouncy and witty, with melodies as cool and clever as the beats - a rare thing indeed for contemporary pop. I must admit that opener "Smile," the single, is my least favorite track on the album...but from "Knock 'Em Down" on, the damn thing just doesn't quit. If there's a better song this year than "Shame for You" (well, besides "Intervention" of course), I'll be ever so thrilled to hear it.

Plus, she's a naughty li'l British dollybird who happens to be so cute you just wanna nibble her to death.Cheers, darlin'. To this old Yank, you're #1 in The '07. (Yes, I am aware that
Alright, Still was released everywhere else on earth last summer. We didn't get it Stateside until about 6 weeks ago, so to us it's a 2007 release.)Arguments? Agreements?
