I remember seeing this ad around Thanksgiving day, I wanna say three, maybe four years ago. It stopped everyone in the room, and when it was over, everyone asked, "What was that SONG?" I can't remember if I even knew, and I always know that kind of thing. For some reason I found the spot oddly, ineffably moving. I still don't know why...but I still adore the spot; I think VW consistently has the best campaigns in all of TV advertising, except maybe for Apple. Not too long after that, this song started popping up all over the place, including trailers for not one but two Charlie Kaufman movies ("Adaptation." and "Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind"). "Mr. Blue Sky" was sort of a lost ELO track for many years...now it seems to be everyone's #1. Watch this simple little car commercial and discover why:There's just...something about it, no?
