Spain Reunited Live at the Echo - "Untitled #1"Wish I could have been there! Found this on YouTube today after being simultaneously excited about Josh Haden's new solo cd Devoted and the reunion of Spain at the same time. I first heard Spain years ago and had the pleasure of seeing them at Rhino Records in Claremont, CA. (Notice a recurring theme in my musical awakening? That record store is the bomb.) I may have been only 13 or 14 at the time, but I still remember the beauty of the melodies and the intricate passion of the lyrics. Now that I am old enough to actually relate to the lyrics -- having sins and crimes and the like -- I love the songs even more. The Blue Moods of Spain has been an excellent album for years, Josh Haden's new solo record is nothing short of brilliance, and I can't wait to see what he comes up with next. This song has been in my head for weeks -- not the first time, mind you, but it almost feels like a spiritual atonement these days. Thanks, Josh. Keep rockin' out those blues.
