After frustration with the majority of modern music, I have returned to Blur. The Gorillaz can't even satisfy my hunger for tunes these days (beyond "Dare" and "Clint Eastwood"). Blur is the only band that will do now -- for this week anyway. I adore the seamless beauty of "Charmless Man" and the anti-bourgeoisie message. What a lovely strike back against the man. He thinks his educated airs / those family shares / Will protect him, that you'll respect him / He moves in circles of friends / who just pretend / that they like him / He does the same to them and when you put it all together / There's the model of a charmless man "Stereotypes" is my current favorite from the Great Escape. The suburbs they are dreaming / they're a twinkle in her eye / she's been feeling frisky since her husband said "goodbye"
"Look Inside America" and "Death of a Party" dominate my Winamp. I just adore how he sums up American consumerism: "Drink Pepsi, it's good for energy."Other bands who still remain in my rotation are Kent and Radiohead. But Blur definitely wins this month. Does anyone know what Damon Albarn is up to recently? When are they ever going to tour again as Blur? Are they? Must "Coffee and TV" sustain me until new developments occur?
