Putting On My Power, Righteous as a Rose

Posted over 2 years ago

I've made relentless effort to settle sleepless thoughts. Mostly it's only familiar music & albums I trust, that have grounded, comforted and soothed my soul this crazy year. "Monsters of Folk" put out a nice one recently that works the same way...

Happy New Year Mog & Moggers.

Helen, crazy isn't always a bad thing so I hope your crazy wasn't so bad. I am very happy to hear from you in the tail-end of '09, here's hoping '10 is a relatively saner year. (I know, right?!?) Miss talking to you, Sunny D...ear. (:

Ilay, I'm so happy to see & hear from you.  :) It was a crazy mix of good, unbelievable, and disappointing. It could've always been worse.  I've def learned that some of the things so called love ones will say during times of anger and rejection can be the most hurtful. But I know those things happen in the moment with little truth behind the words.  Things are calm now and I'm looking forward to the months ahead.  May your coming year be crazy good!

Cody, all the best to you too...and cheers to your well deserved recognition!

Denra, this recording, which I prefer, is switched up from the album version.  Very nice and laid back for sure, glad you had a listen. Hope 2010 finds you well too. :)

    Haha...

I used to not want this folk oriented stuff to grow on me, but eventually I couldn't deny it anymore.

Seriously one of my favorite songs of 2009 - no question.  And definitely my fav off their album. I saw Monsters play at the Greek theather last summer and this was the one song (out of a 36 song set!) that they didn't play :(

Glad you found this version with M. Ward singing instead of Conor - very cool.

Bummer they didn't play this live, but cool you got to see em.  I don't believe they came southeast at all...hopefully this year.  Glad you enjoyed...I love watching Jim James in there, esp that smile at the end. :)

Very atmospheric, soundtrack-y feel. I love M Ward's voice. You can sure pick 'em, H! More, please!
