The Name, The Fun, The Music

The Name:
I'm not having "alias anxiety" or an identity crisis...maybe more like an epiphany.
I don't know...what can I say.
The sunshinedaydream just didn't feel right anymore. I thought of dropping the daydream but the name goes together like 2 peas in a tie-died pod. I went through my spaced out psychedelic phase and still enjoy The Grateful Dead & Donna the Buffalo on warm summer days, but I guess I'm coming out of my shell a little here...(hard to believe after some of the haughty things I've said, I know).
Maybe seeing others with their simple first names finally got to me or maybe those revealing posts a lot of you did a couple months ago. I did have part of my name on screen when I originally signed into mog (a couple months before sunshine came about), but had a change of heart. Just in case a close friend or neighbor was a mogger, I didn't want to embarrass myself when I'd say something stupid (which was/is inevitable). I guess now I know the anonymous thing doesn't really work around here.
So, if/when you see some "HelenMarie" commenting about, that's me (Helen alone wasn't available, but I'm used to my Mama using my middle for emphasis when she's pissed, so it works). And feel free to continue with Sunshine, Sunny, SD or whatever comes to you. It's just what's on my page.

Look, there's my hand!!! Not really, but I was pretty damn close to the stage! Having to work the last video screen onto the field, I was able to get right up there for the show!
It goes without saying...but being on the field for halftime at the Superbowl was absolutley AMAZING!!! What a rush! I'm a bit of a football fan as some know and that was one moment in my life that I felt very alive!!! The rehearsal on Thursday was amazing in itself, just being there for a preview of the show with only about 600 people on the field was thrilling! Bruce's (we're on a first name basis now) journal notes on his website are pretty interesting if anyone's curious what he was thinking... http://www.brucespringsteen.net
Aaaaand...I've just got myself involved in another project. This time I'm working with our local community radio for Tropical Heatwave "an eclectic music festival held in Ybor City - Tampa's entertainment district. The Festival features over 30 bands performing on 6 stages, both outdoor and indoor, organized by WMNF Radio, an independent 70,000 watt community radio station" -sonicbids.com. So, I was assigned to design/decorate this beautiful rod iron entry way to the 4th floor ballroom stage. And what makes this a pretty exciting gig, is one of the headliners...Chuck Prophet...! Woooo!!
I have to thank you all too for inspiring me, just communicating with people so passionate about music is a good kick in the...right direction. (Not to mention a really good book that's offered plenty of creative inspiration...thanks Mr. S!)
The Music:
Musically attached with no connection what-so-ever to any of this rant...is from my latest favorite album. Dan Auerbach from The Black Keys just released some solo work (with the help of a"full-on band"..heh), this one hit's me in all the right places, at the moment.
"On his new disc, he references the artists and genres that have long fascinated him, from the soul-stirring bluegrass of the Stanley Brothers to fuzzed-out '60s psychedelia, from the doleful side of country to Memphis R&B, with some carnivalesque rock and roll to tie it all together. He doesn't so much depart from the approach of The Black Keys as explore in a full-on band context ideas that have, to varying degrees, helped shape the duo's elemental groove. As Auerbach explains, "The one thing I didn't want to do is to try to sound different from The Black Keys. That would have sounded half-assed and boring. I just wanted to do things I loved." hello helenmarie, dig the name change :D i just downloaded this entire album; it was the first album i felt like buying in a while. love it in it's entirety. the song "when the night comes" breaks me down. nice choice here too!
Hey Nella! Thanks dear! I can't get the track to play but I've got a horrible connection here. Can you get play on it? (I really don't want to edit 10 times!) "When the night comes" has some serious sentimental value for me too! I was so lucky to get a promo of the album, or I would've went straight away to purchase on Tues...
Way to get outta that shell, w00t! ;)
It feels alright! : )
Hello, Helen Marie. Girls with two first names just wanna have twice the fun. (Friends with the same second name are up to no good. ;d) Gosh, are you up and about these days. I'm excited for you to see Chuck Prophet up close. Call it what you will, I know you bring extra doses of sunshine everytime you drop by hereabouts. Please make it often again!
wow, I was wondering who this post was from, kudos on the superbowl fun!
"alias anxiety" - ;) x7 + 1 - 7 = ;)
You'll still be SunnyD to me.
nice name xx
Good on ya, I dont want to try and work another personality, I got enough trouble keep one on the level. It would be fair to say that there are many good reasons for staying anomonus, I just dont have any. I did wonder how this HelenMarie person got an instant invite into my mog so nice surprise.
That was a great tune you just posted, never heard that name before
hhmph, I didn't even know you could change your name...so that's today's revelation! It's sooo funny (and cool) to think you were in that crowd, since I wathced it pretty darn close. Hey, where'd Nils disappear to?? (no answer expected) good to hear ya, whatever name you choose!!
the Auerbach tune is hitting like a "House of the Rising Son" groove...like it!!
A rose by any other name, etc. You can be Sunny D or HelenMarie. Either way, we're more than happy to share a post or thread with ya!
Why hello there IlayMarie! ; ) I'm excited to be up & about, moving and shaking, and thrilled to [fingers crossed] get to say hello to Chuck, his lovely bandmate wife and the mission express. It's amazing what one can accomplish in the midst of a breather from this wonderful land of good music and friends.
Rawkiddoh, it was soo suuuper to be there!!!
MariG. I think you busted me on avatar anxiety back in the day too! And please don't show up here with math again. ; )
Thanks Mancs - right back at you. : )
Hi Earthman, I snuck right in your mailbox, hah. Glad you enjoyed the tune, I was hoping I didn't distract too much from the good music in here.
Scot - Mog support can do it...I had a feeling they'd be able to, so I asked and poof, done. (and I had no idea about Nils until you mentioned it...I'm still absorbing) : )
Oh, thanks Mike! I'm happy to share and be a part of all the good things going on here with you all too!
...though I must say this name that I've been used to all my life, suddenly feels strange... : )
Wha? that's some sweet math. i was pretty proud of that math problem. i needed all ten of my digits to figure it out.
hello hello helen! i didn't put a dollar in, but I still got the best tune ever out of the jukebox. coming from the mogger with the longest, and most irrevelant alias, I guess the smoke show has to end at some point, way to take that step though
"It's amazing what one can accomplish in the midst of a breather" - Yeah, I wouldn't know. I'm here all day long. ;p
Hey Helen! I realized who you are when you Hey Anna-ed me at Brittany's post and I felt overexcited for some reason :)
So glad that you had a good time. Here's to the next one being even better. I'm really happy for ya!
And this is my first sonical taste of DA. Tasty.... :)
MariG- Math is not so sweet to me. ; ) Though I do appreciate it's worth... Just ask my accounting professor from my college days, he only passed me for good intention and effort.
madrid spacestation bostonian - no one pays for good music at Helen's joint! not even those with the most irrevelant alias's!
PBG - I think I'm about to take your place here!
Anna - I'm always glad to help assist in overexcited feelings!! That's awesome! And thanks for your happiness my dear! : )
