Back... Sorta

So I've come back from the dead. In the past year I've re-ripped my entire music collection, using EAC and three drives it took approximately 5 months of my time. Why?? I didn't want to spend the time id3'ing the tracks, there were tracks that were screwed up from the original project where 8+ computers were ripping to a network drive and for some reason you'd start hearing parts of Freaky Chakra in the middle of a Front 242 track for example. Plus all of the ripping I did back then was before I understood offsets and even before EAC was around for that matter. Oh yeah, I also wanted to reorganize my collection separating bootlegs and other digital downloads from my personal collection. So after this, I have found that I am done with physical media. Out of the 5000+ cds, over 200 were un-rippable. After getting a CD repair setup, I was able to get about half of those repaired. Then about half of the rest were able to be ripped from my friend's CD collections. However, there are dozens that I'll never be able to play let alone rip, the surfaces are deteriorated so badly that they're nothing more than coasters. What a mess, but the entire collection is on my server in v0, with the wav's kept off-line on 3 external 1TB drives in case I decide OK i want to convert it to another format in the future. Oh, and I've still yet to restructure my newly ripped collection with anything other than an mp3 folder with 1000+ artists listed. Nor have I moved / deleted the old collection as it's a tangled mess. Now if only I was allowed to get rid of the physical media and LEGALLY keep my music. I have an entire room dedicated to music that has been condensed to a server, plus 3 hard drives. I can box it all up and it still takes too much space up. I really do want to move from where I'm at in the future, but the thought of moving close to a ton of media really doesn't appeal to me much. Such a dilemma, such is the life of an ex-media junkie I guess.
