New Order's Peter Hook Reveals All

He lost a lot of money. He took a lot of drugs. His marriage to actress Caroline Aherne ended in a fog of binge drinking and nasty public outbursts. He and the Factory empire ran a club...badly.

Today's Manchester Evening News interviews Peter Hook, bass player with New Order who is promoting his book of recollections titled "The Hacienda: How Not To Run A Club". He admits that he and fellow bandmates still aren't sure how much money they lost on the club but it is in excess of 6 Million pounds.

On the treatment for his chronic drink dependency he writes, "When I entered rehab, a kid came up to me and said, 'Hello, remember me?'...I used to serve you up with Es in the Hacienda.' Turns out he would be my rehab counsellor."

And his advice on life? "If you learn anything from reading this book the first thing (obviously) should be: never open a nightclub with your mates. The second thing: never marry an actress."
