Bob Dylan (now there's a surprise!) has been long listed for this year's Uncut music awards. The ceremony will select the magazine's album of year with a judging panel that includes Billy Bragg, Mark Radcliffe, Christian O'Connell and Robin Pecknold, the frontman of last year's winners, Fleet Foxes.
The winner will be announced in the January 2010 edition, and the longlist of albums up for consideration are as follows:
The Acorn - 'Glory Hope Mountain
Animal Collective - 'Merriweather Post Pavilion'
Arctic Monkeys - 'Humbug'
Bill Callahan - 'Sometimes I Wish We Were An Eagle'
Graham Coxon - 'The Spinning Top'
Alela Diane - 'To Be Still'
Dirty Projectors - 'Bitte Orca'
Doves - 'Kingdom Of Rust'
The Duke And The King - 'Nothing Gold Can Stay'
Bob Dylan - 'Together Through Life'
Fever Ray - 'Fever Ray'
Grizzly Bear - 'Veckatimest'
Levon Helm - 'Electric Dirt'
The Horrors - 'Primary Colours'
Kings Of Leon - 'Only By The Night'
The Low Anthem - 'Oh My God Charlie Darwin'
Madness - 'The Liberty Of Norton Folgate'
Raphael Saadiq - 'The Way I See It'
Super Furry Animals - 'Dark Days/Light Years'
TV On The Radio - 'Dear Science'
Tinariwen - 'Imidiwan: Companions'
White Denim - 'Fits'
Wilco - 'Wilco (The Album)'
Wild Beasts - 'Two Dancers'
The xx - 'xx'
Now if I were a betting man, I'd put a few bucks on Dylan. Uncut Magazine is as close to being Bob's official fan club magazine to the extent that he could release a collection of his own wind movement and still get a five star review. Editor Allan Jones blogs about him incessantly, follows him around on tour and makes sure that virtually every issue has at least one feature fawning over his very existence.
If you were planning on a safer spread bet, then there's a good chance you'd get a nice return on the winner not being a UK release.
