Native American Space Funk, Part 1

Posted over 2 years ago
Although this isn't really "funk," I thought this was funky enough to share. For those of you not familiar, Magma was/is a French jazz-influenced prog rock band from the late 60s and 70s that completely went in a new direction. Long story short (and wierd story less wierd) Magma started a new style of music called zeuhl, characterized by aggressive bass playing, a Fender Rhodes, operatic-style chanting, and insane drumming (Christian Vander is considered by many to be one of the greats). They are also known for singing in their own made up language called Kobaian, but that's a different story. This song is from Udu Wudu (mentioned in an earlier post for having one of my favorite album covers of all time). Enjoy! Da zeuhl wortz mekanik!!
