WE DO THE MASHED POTATO AND THE FUNKY CHICKEN

#19: Don't laugh, west coasters, but we had ourselves an earthquake this morning!

Posted 11 months ago

Well, it was small--registered 3.6 on the Richter scale. Some people saw things shake and the like. Me? I was in the copy room at my school and felt the building shake just enough for me to think the air conditioning had kicked in. Slight rumble, saw my reflection shaking in some glass, and that was it. Really, really POWERFUL air conditioning, but stil . . . I didn't even realize it was an earthquake until about 20 minutes later when someone else mentioned it.

so, no, it wasn't traumatic, but it was the first earthquake I've ever felt before. We do have a healthy fault line running through Charleston, which reared its ugly head and destroyed the city in the late 1880s . . .

but it's been pretty quiet ever since. They say a "big one" is coming one day, but "they" make their living saying that, so why would they every change their tune?

Speaking of tunes, a nice little dub tune called "Earthquake" by Joe Gibbs. I know next to nothing about this man; fellow MOGger Marigold gave me this, and I have yet to get around to listening to all of it (sorry, Mike).

Don't I know it.  Cheri is convinced she has four kids now, including one overly large 8th grader.

Have been through 3 or 4 major earthquakes so far. My wife insists I don't even notice the little ones (3.6, feh!) and maybe she's right.

Anna, does that mean I'm now an earthquake slut?

annieander, I had a feeling you would get a kick out of 3.6.  You crazy westcoaster you.  Do I get a membership card with the club?

berkeleybob, although this one didn't bother me, I have a feeling if it had been much stronger I would have ended up quite shaken.  I don't think I'd have the strength for one major earthquake, much less three or four!
