Flood Empty Lakes to open for This Will Destroy You!!!

I can't say how excited I am about this. If you've been following along, you know that I play in an instrumental band. I've talked on here before about the trials and tribulations of being in a band that plays inherently unpopular music (no words = no fans)--and yet, I know that there is a place for it out there due to the success of a handful of bands. One of those bands that seems to have succeeded despite the odds is This Will Destroy You, and in a week and a half, on June 15th, I get to share the stage with them!
I really don't know what to expect. I guess I'm hoping in the back of my mind that they'll be so blown away that they want to introduce us to their manager, their label, and the rest is recording history, but I know that's not going to happen. Or it would be great if one of them sat down and gave us great advice on how to make it in today's music scene, the one that requires vocals and normal song-lengths and all of that marketable jazz to go with it. You know, what we'll never be.
But that won't happen. What will happen? Probably something like this: we play, a few other bands play, then they play. they rock. When it's all done, there's a handshake and a "that was a good set" or something like that. And then they leave.
But I'll be okay with that. I still get to see them play, for free. I get to share the stage with them for a brief moment. And I get the chance to play for people who might just appreciate what we're doing a little more.

That's great man!
Good luck. Don't be so definite about the possible outcome! Possibility sometimes confounds probability.
Hey Dave, I go back a ways on mog, and I've always appreciated you sharing your ups and downs as an educator so candidly. Your music has been a vital respite to that particular craziness, and I'm really thrilled for you as your band has evolved and taken off over recent months. This is GREAT and well-deserved Enjoy every minute of it, soak it all up, and I'll be looking for a copy of your set list on eBay!
you never know what might happen, I see it as the chance of a lifetime!
Thanks, guys! I definitely do plan on enjoying the experience. At the very least, I hope to be totally blown away, and that's not too bad of a way to spend an evening, I think!
