If you haven't heard The Orb, you owe it to yourself to check them out. No other artist (that I'm familiar with) has been able to push the bounds of electronic music like these guys. Call them ambient house, call them brilliant, call them what you will.
They've done so much it's hard to nail down one song to represent them, but I think "Blue Room" is a good contender.

after all these posts I am waiting for you to post a propellerheads track.... wait I will do that
Believe it or not, I've never heard the Propellerheads before. I was hoping some people would pipe up with more electronica I need to get. I'm liking this one, that's for sure!
Its a great album, if you can find it pick it up. I will look into my collection and see if there are any others you might like......
Lets try these....
Those three are all great. The Fatboy Slim I'm familiar with, but had never heard of Leftfield or Mr. Oizo. I liked both, especially the Leftfield. that was pretty intense (and, to use the phrase of the night, kick ass).
That last video was pretty funny, too, which is always a plus!
glad you liked, I am having fun going through my cds as well.......now all we need is a club to dance at
What a great idea. If we both leave right now we can meet in Kentucky or something, some time tomorrow morning and, er, oh never mind.
Groon - I, myself am partial to the Boards Of Canada...and in my opinion hold the title as the best Electronica / Ambient sounds EVER.
Where Do I Start?
1. r.o.y.g.b.i.v.
2. Dayvan Cowboy
3. Chromakey Dreamcoat
If you can own only 1 album of theirs...Music Has The Right To Children...mostly noted as one of the top 10 Electronica albums. If you could own two...Campfire Headphase. Thanks for listening.
Annie--thanks for the knowledge, and I like what I'm hearing. I actually went to the store today and picked this album up, but in the end had to put it down due to budget--they wanted almost $20 for it, which is hard to do when the other albums on my list are all around the $12 mark. I'll be keeping an eye out for it, though.
I'd be willing to load it on the dark side if you are interested Chuck.
(whisper) sounds good to me! I like what I heard so far!
Not bad for lightweights!! Give me Possum 404 any day baby!
(whisper) maybe there is something else I can get you....
Just don't ask any questions.
Ahhhh You're just hit after hit Mr. MOGWARS 3 SpaceGroon ;)
LGE is right...posting 3 in a row...who's full of piss and vinegar?
heheh ;P
What can I say--I just had an urge. I tend to go in spurts like that, and with school starting up again soon my time might cut down for a while.
Annie, that was great! Oh!
Eric, I'm hoping to get back on the Possum 404 wheel in the near future, too. (instead of a hampster wheel).
Boards of Canada are definitively worth a try. Mr Oizo was so big a few years ago in Germany - it was hardly possible not to know him. Here we see the geographical differences again, crazy. I'm currently more on the ElectroDisco and Cosmic Disco trip - apart from the Krautrock. If you want to listen to a very good ElektroDisco album, that was just released, I recommend you Munk - Cloudbuster. Fistula antcipated me with his post on it "> here":http://mog.com/fistula_spume/blog/169461.
The Propellerheads are also dope. Listen to that album extensively a few years ago while driving.
And if you like Fatboy Slim, you must know his pseudonym Mighty Dub Katz. Already at least 12 years old - was my summer hit of '95 or '96. Mighty Dub Katz - Magic Carpet Ride
This here was also a big hit that I also discovered years after: Mighty Dub Katz - Letz The Drums Speak
There's so much more ... . Have to go to bed now. Good night.
