Just felt like posting some Underworld
-
Artist:
I've been in a mood for kick-ass electronica all day, really. It happens sometimes. And even though I'm not the most knowledgeable about such things around here, I still know where to go to get my fix, and it's usually summed up in one word: Underworld.
My favorite album by them is Second Toughest in the Infants, due largely in part to the first track, or three tracks strung together, or whatever, the 17 minute plus "Juanita/Kiteless/To Dream of Love."
Found this live clip on youtube today, thought I'd share. Kick. Ass.

one of my favorites, close second to born slippery
Which album is that off of? I don't think I have that one.
It was on second toughest in the infants and it is out of press. You can get the single off the greatest hits cd, or off the Trainspotting soundtrack. Its well worth that song alone. Here it is and I screwed up, its called born slippy
For some reason I thought "Pearl's Girl" was the track from the Trainspotting soundtrack.
One more thing to get, as this is kicking ass as well.
This is GOOD! I'm awake and dancing in my desk chair. Nice Groon.
Something to give back....not as energetic, but lovely too.
Kev - Awesome additions. That Trainspotting track rocks my world...as did the book and the movie. Loved it.
The best band of the genre, in my humble opinion.
If anyone disagrees, we can take it outside.
Oh, Kevin, I know this song! Yeah it does rock. Thanks for the reminder. Annie, that Autechre song means yet ANOTHER band to add to my list!
Anna: calm down,. I think we'lre all in agreement here, or at least wise enough to pretend we are!
It's one of my favorite tracks of theirs...as well as album. They are GOOOD!
I'd still rather listen to Possum 404... this is kinda boring... okay... real boring.
Doom...what is boring, Boards or Autechre? I guess the answer doesn't matter really. I won't dismiss Possum 404...at least I will give it a try. Post something...bring it on.
AMAZING !!! & though I only saw one song - I am THRILLED I got to see Underworld live at Virgin Fest
Enjoy for me Lizzie...Jealous. Totally green eyed here.
Dang Foo Fighters & Underworld fighting for my attention... I probably should have stayed at Underworld - but what can I say - Dave Grohl rocks my silly little world !!!
The Underworld song was boring... I do like the Foil song!
I like techno... just don't know a lot of artists in the genre other than The Chemical Brothers and that one song back from the 90's... Firestarter... can't remember the artist. I like VNV Nation quite a bit. Don't have any tracks directly... but this will have to do...
Eric, the firestarter song is by The Prodigy. I have two of their albums, both of which are pretty good. Firestarter comes from The Fat of the Land, which was their big album. The other album I have, Always Outnumbered Never Outgunned (one of my favorite album titles as of late) has a pretty diffeent sound, much more frenzied. I'll try to post something off of that in the near future.
Oh, and I think the studio version of that Underworld song is better, personally, but I couldn't find it on youtube!
annie, the Possum 404 Eric is referring to is my own little solo electronic project done in my spare time. I made a few posts back in the day, I think before we met each other. I guess MOG automatically makes artist lounges anytime a new artist is tagged, because I have one here:

Lizzie: I can't believe you only saw the one song. I don't believe I would've been able to tear myself away!
That's it Prodigy!
Underwater is a bit boring to me too. Autechre is pretty good, it's worth looking them up. I you wanna have proper classic Techno - non of the above is proper Techno - look for Sven Väth, he's one of the founders of the genre. I personally don't know him well, as I'm not a Techno fan. He produced also Trance and recently collaborated with Anothony Rother a big one in German electro. The latter collabs I like more.
Here's an example for proper Techno (as far as I can judge that as genre outsider):
Sven Väth - Discophon
Here's another one, that I just found and that like a bit more - but that's maybe due to the sample of Aim's Cold Water Music.
Monoroom - Memory Inc (Gui Boratto Remix)
Thanks, Hermes. I'll confess most of those electronic genres don't make sense to me, techno, house, jungle, goa . . . too much to know. So I usually just say "electronica" or "techno" even though, as you point out, that's technically not right.
Thanks for the schooling and the music. I can't listen right now, bu I will later.
