Massive Attack's Teardrop: "House" Music.

Without a doubt, House is one of the best shows on TV today. Okay, that's an opinion, but it is an opinion a lot of people share, so I'm sticking with it. Anyway, one of the great bonuses to watching House is the excellent theme song, none other than a 30-second edit of Massive Attack's "Teardrop." I only recently started listening to Massive Attack, so I didn't even know it was a real song until I stumbled on it while listening to 1998's Mezzanine. I mean, it has singing and everything! This has been one of my favorite theme songs for a while now, and it's great to hear a full-length version of it.
NOTE: I was going to post the 30-second opening credit spot right here, but every version I found on youtube had the embedding disabled. If you want to watch it, check out this link. Instead, here's a pic of the good doc:

Question to you: what other theme songs out there are worth listening to? I got one more that springs to mind, I'll put it in the comments.

My other favorite it's-a-real-song-but-also-a-theme-song song is Cake's "Short Skirt/Long Jacket," which is used for another one of my favorite shows, Chuck. Here's the real song:
and here's the TV version:
I could have sworn I posted this since House is the only show I watch on TV. But no. It was a great idea though Chuck. Be scared. Be very scared. We share ideas.
Great song.
It is a great song, isn't it? And a great show. I'm glad you hadn't done that post, then, because in all my rush to get it on here after the idea struck me, I didn't bother to check to see if anyone else had. Which means that probably, some other person did at some point.
Oh well, it's good enough to be done twice, imo, if that's the case.
And John, if I'm going to be sharing ideas with anyone around here, I can think of a lot worse picks!
LOL. I just posted a song that I think you'll like. You may even know them already. You'll know it by the post title.
I dont watch much TV but House screens over here and I have been a fan, I like his reckless attitude, great track too buy the way, nice to hear from ya Chuck
I mean, it has singing and everything!
and not just any singing...remarkable vocals by Elizabeth Fraser on this one
....and a great prenatal video to go with it, which you need to see if you have not...
Yeah, that video is pretty wild! I didn't realize that was Elizabeth Fraser singing (although I suspected it was somebody. My own suspicion was Kate Bush, as it has that quality about it).
Dean, nice to hear from you, too!
I watch nada TV, though I must admit to having watched an episode or two of house and coming away impressed, which is not the case for the usual TV fare...
Good tune, though!
I thought I knew that intro music for House! 'Protection' - the one before 'Mezzanine' - is one of my favourite albums. I much prefer Tracy Thorn's voice to Ms. Fraser and they don't sound as spliffed out as they do on 'Mezz'...but that's just me. Hugh Laurie is great as Dr. House. Just like a typical NHS doctor, lol!
Good choice. Stellar show and timeless show.
I fancy the song that's the theme from my beloved show Damages. The VLA - When I Am Through With You.

Just like Bowie would have wanted it ;)
Erm, stellar show and timeless song, that is :)
I'm a fan of The Sopranos' theme song,
It's Work Up This Morning by Alabama 3:
(I hope these are right, I can't view them @work)
Shows you how little I watch TV that I didn't know that Massive Attack song was the theme. I've grown really good at recognizing songs from TV spots. Especially commercials. Melissa always rolls her eyes at me when I spin around to watch a commercial with a familiar song therein.
Since I've never watched Damages or The Sopranos, I didn't know about either of those--both great examples, by the way! Dale, on the other side I watch entirely TOO MUCH tv. IT seems that's all I do when I'm not working. Granted, I'm working my butt off, so it's a relative thing, but still it's one of the things I'm hoping to change as the months go by.
Jonh, I haven't head Protection yet, but if it's better than Mezzanine I'm already hooked.
IRF, House is one of those rare shows that are actually worth the time it takes to watch. If you're only going to catch an hour or two here and there, House is a good hour for it.
