A New Year's Miracle.

Posted about 1 year ago
Those of you that have been following my posts this year know that it hasn't been the best of years in the Groon household. We've been dealing with a kid diagnosed with arthritis, financial woes, and the sudden death of a minivan, resulting in having to buy two vehicles, bringing on more financial woes. Those of you who have times like this know that, whenever things start looking better, it's time for the other shoes to drop. Well, it did. This is "Uma":On Thursday, she went missing. You might not think it's a big deal, but this cat is 10 years old and is a household favorite, always cuddling, never messing up the furniture, yada yada yada. You get the point. My wife has been on edge anyway, and it seemed like this was the breaking point. Needless to say, the last four days have been pretty rough.Well, she turned up about 6:30 tonight, outside our door. A bit skittish (it took fifteen minutes to coax her inside) and extremely thin, but still. Seems like a little thing, but the New Year is starting on the right foot. Now if I can just avoid that other shoe.I don't have much cat-related music, but there is this, "Tommy the Cat" from Primus. If you know it, you know Les Claypool's bass is amazing, and this song absolutely shreds. Happy New Year's, everybody!

  3. asrati says Where do cats go when they go away and come back? I once had a cat who hung out somewhere for ...two weeks? I'd pretty much adjusted to the idea that she was dead when she reappeared. Glad there's a beloved cat around your house again.

  4. Groon says Two weeks? That's pretty crazy. I'd love to know where Uma went. Except for being thinner she looked fine, not dirty or bedraggled in any way, so she must have had shelter seeing as it's been rainging for all of those four days, just about. thanks! darmuzz: Thanks! I hope it is. 2007 was not the best year for us, so we figure we're due for an upturn right about now. ray: you two!
