WHERE MUSIC LISTENS TO YOU

Danzig @ Worcester Palladium

Posted about 1 year ago

Finally had the chance to see Danzig Friday night in Worcester. It's been a long time coming. He has been the most elusive artist for me. It seems everytime he comes around my neck of the woods, something happens and I can't make it. I gave up trying for a while, then heard he was doing a Misfits set last year with Doyle, an ex Misfit. I had to go. I had picked up his Lost Tracks album and was impressed with a lot of it, being older material. Of course he fell off stage in Baltimore the night before and dislocated his shoulder and canceled day of. This night went smooth though. No Misfits set, but I showed up just in time for his set, which meant I didnt have to sit through any of the god awful Dimmu Bogir or any of the other terrible bands. Perfect. Danzig's voice is still very strong, and the band was tight. Tommy Victor from Prong, Zing from Samhain on bass, and the drummer from Type O. Set list was great as it was a 20th anniversary tour and he focused mostly on the older material. The stage set up was very cool with the Danzig logo statues and gargoyles. The crowd was very into it and Danzig seemed to really be enjoying himself. He doesnt come off as the meat head he sometimes portrays himself as. He seemed very gracious of the enthusiastic crowd. I picked up a "Lost Tracks" T-Shirt for a cool 30 bones, but was money well spent in my opinion as the artwork is very impressive. Kind of a throwback to the old days. Here's the setlist.

Setlist:

Wotan's Procession
Skincarver
Twist of Cain
Am I Demon
Tired of Being Alive
Devil's Plaything
Her Black Wings
Left Hand Black
How the Gods Kill
Brand New God
Satan's Crucifiction
Unspeakable
Lilin
Black Mass
Black Angel, White Angel
Mother

Encore:
Killer Wolf
Dirty Black Summer

Haha, it's tough to say him being on stage, but I'd say he is a bit vertically challenged. I'd say 5'4" tops...on a good day.

Big voice for a little guy.

that is really short, i'm almost as tall as him.

he had to make up for being height-challenged somehow!
