WHERE MUSIC LISTENS TO YOU

My generation

Posted over 2 years ago
bought john mayer's new single, waiting on the world to change- i've heard it in the background in stores, on the radio, it's got a great hook, so i grabbed it on iTunes, frankly a little surprised at who it was. then i made the msitake of actually listening to the lyrics:"me and all my friends we're all misunderstood they say we stand for nothing and there's no way we ever could now we see everything that's going wrong with the world and those who lead it we just feel like we don't have the means to rise above and beat it so we keep waiting waiting on the world to change we keep on waiting waiting on the world to change "what pathetic tripe- not to sound like my old man, but back in my day, bands sang about how they could change the world- even Chicago, in the early 70s, could rock you with a message of hope, activism, this was protest with participation. then Terry Kath had a dialog with a 45, and the band was never the same.but mr. mayer, "one day your generation is gonna rule the population so we keep on waiting waiting on the world to change"your generation ain't gonna rule shit, unless you get up off your ass and work for it.

  1. Hattie says I haven't really listened to the song either, but he probably never says his generation will PROACTIVELY rule the world, does he? Good post. Peace, Hattie.

  2. Grievous Angel says yeah- no one's going to hand it to him. Graham Nash sang: We can change the world rearrange the world it's dying if you believe in justice and if you believe in freedom
