  2. brendanhalpin says This is awesome. One of those things that's so wrong it's right. I think Nirvana songs suffer even in non-awesomely-wrong versions because the banality of Cobain's lyrics really stands out without the original music. But this is fantastic. Best think Paul Anka's done since he drove the giant signs out of Springfield with "Just Don't Look."

  3. Spike says Thus _is_ fantastic. How did you find out about it? Was it Anka's idea? Who wrote the arrangement? It works, musically. It reminds me of a Pat Boone album I read about in the 90's, _No More Mister Nice Guy_, featuring big band arrangements of punk rock songs.

  4. Grievous Angel says Spike- oddly enough, i discovered it on a basketball bbs i frequent, clutchcity.net- check the hangout section of the forums. i think anka must've done the arrangement, there's another on youtube that you can't embedd that also "rocks" in it's own way, "van halen's jump!":http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-Gwgrr8ecsE

  5. Spike says A while back mktackabery posted a Van Halen cover of an Emmett Miller recording from 1929, with Van Halen's father on clarinet.

  6. Jonh Ingham says Anka did a whole album of thiese arrangements. This is where British media works so well - we got just enough of an earful of this album for us to all have a laugh, then safely ignore it.
