The Greatest Gift: Scratch Acid performs again
-
Artist:
The people this means something to probably already know, but - in the event that it does...and you didn't - Scratch Acid will be performing live for the first time in about 20 years at "Touch and Go Records'":http://www.touchandgorecords.com/ "25th Anniversary Celebration":http://www.tgrec.com/links/tg25/ in Chicago next month along with other blasts from the label's past like _Big Black_, _Killdozer_, and _Man... Or Astroman?_ as well as some blasts from the present like _Calexico_, _Black Heart Procession_, and _CocoRosie_. Tickets are Cheap! I singled out Scratch Acid because maybe 50% of my music collection is derivative of them (chalk the other 50% up to _Slint_) and they're the one band I'll most miss not seeing. Only something like the birth of our first child could keep us from flying back and navigating through Finkl's Metal Works to find The Hideout again, and wouldn't you just know it but now that exact thing is happening the very same week. For those of you inclined to continue reading, I've linked to an article from a 1987 issue of _Samizdat_ (an old Atlanta-based fanzine by the looks of it) featuring an interview with David Yow on the breakup of Scratch Acid. It reads more like the mundane phone conversation that it is rather than a particularly insightful interview, but at least it's mostly free of rock journalism hyperbole. Click on, if you have any interest.
