So as a fan of M.I.A since the very begining, I know I'm crazy glad that she's getting the recognition she deserves. I'm also glad that she's actually touring the U.S [Because as you may or may not know, the feds weren't actually going to let here back stateside.] However, As glad as I am, that people are starting to wake up to the brilliance that is M.I.A.. I still read the two glowing articles on her in the current RS magazine with a little dread. It's not that I think Maya is going to suddenly become 'mainstream' and lose her edge. It's simply that it'll be annoying when I start hearing all the trendy kids calling her the 'Hottest new artist out of London by way of Sri Lanka'

mkanye86 says I sorta agree with u on the mainstream thing...i mentioned that to a friend. She's def blowing up n i dont think she'll go completely mainstream because i dont think alot of people are open to a sound like the one she carries. She's extremely wonderful and unique, so if people do open up to her sound...she'll be the only artist in the ODD genre that she's in. SHE'll BE HOLDING IT DOWN FOR A WHILE N SHE HAS SINCE 2003...i cought her out here in brookly, nyc at studio b. FRONT OF THE LINE...SHE overwhelms me...i love her! KALA IS DEF GON PUT HER OUT THERE!---1
