SOUNDS OF FUTURE PAST AND PRESENT PERFECT

DEATH OF A WEIRDO

Posted over 2 years ago
OK, I have been chugging this Devin album-- fully pounding back tracks like an alcholic nihilist, and I have to say WAITING TO INHALE is as tough as the first two Devins (or the chopped version of X-TREME). I didn't think it coulde be done, but it's been done. Amazing. And this song, this "What a job"- if it's not a single already I'm sure it will be, which means people around the world will have another chance to fall in love with Devin, hopefully undistracted by the sight of Andre Benjamin shooting himself in the face off to the side, lyrically. Yeah, bringing some guilt trip shit on file-sharing geeks... it's unfortunate. It's out of our hands, though-- when a rock star crosses the fourth wall to tell us that stealing isn't cool, there's no choice but to assume that their fundamental definition of "cool" is useless bullshit. The beat and the hook are classic Devin, though, and by "classic Devin" I mean "unmissable."
